Lou Dobbs For President Biography
Lou Dobbs is the anchor and managing editor of CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight and a founding member of the network, as well as CNN's financial news division. Additionally, Dobbs anchors The Lou Dobbs Financial Report a financial report broadcast on nationally-syndicated radio, and he writes a weekly commentary on CNN.com. Also, he is a columnist for Money magazine, and New York Daily News. He is a contributing editor for U.S. News and World Report and the overseas publication of his financial newsletter, the Lou Dobbs Money Letter.
Additionally Dobbs is the author of two New York Times best selling books, "War on the Middle Class," and "Exporting America" and he is the co-author of "Space." His current book, "Independents Day: Awakening the American Spirit," was released in November.
Lou Dobbs is an award winning journalist and he has received an Emmy for Lifetime Achievement in 2005, and Lou Dobbs Tonight received an Emmy Award for "Exporting America" in 2004. He received the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for his coverage of the stock market crash of 1987 and he was given the Luminary Award by the Business Journalism Review for his "visionary work, which changed the landscape of business journalism in the 1980s."
In this decade Lou Dobbs has received many awards and recognitions, including the Horatio Alger Association Award for Distinguished Americans, and the National Space Club Media Award. He received recognition for bringing to the national forefront the issues of global trade, employment and outsourcing and therefore, he received The Man of the Year Award from The Organization for the Rights of American Workers and the George J. Kourpias Excellence in Journalism Award from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Dobbs graduated from Harvard University earning a degree in economics. He serves on the board of directors for the Horatio Alger Association, the Society of Professional Journalists Foundation, the National Space Foundation and SPACE Holdings, Inc., and Integrity Bank. He is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Overseas Press Club, the Planetary Society, and the American Economic Association.
